Today we headed off to Greenwich. Yes, the 00.00.00'th longitude and
the place that all timezones start. We'd been there previously in our
last trip to London, but we thought we'd head back to wander around a
bit, as Londoners.
The University in Greenwich is absurdly nice. In England, it seems as
though you're not considered a "real" university unless you have clock
towers, fields of immaculately kept grass and little claims to fame
like inventing the concept of accurate global navigation.
Laura and I stopped and had a pint of beer on a bench beside the
Thames. I had Boddingtons and Laura has Stella Artois. We sat across
the river from the Millennium dome. But seriously, the Millennium
dome is just soo five years ago.
Today we met the other person who lives in our building. She is about
our age and is a South African who has lived in London for about a
year. She works with special needs children and is very nice. We
traded mobile numbers, so we're officially introduced. Seems as
though this city is made up of foreigners in their 20s and 30s. Which
is pretty neat, but it means that we're smack-dab in the middle of the
normal curve, and I hate that.
This morning Laura and I went for a jog in the pouring rain. We
decided to brave the weather figuring that we might as well get used
to it. It turned out to be a little excessively rainy, in that it was
pouring down in sheets. But near the end, the sun came out and it was
quite nice.
